Anyone who has constructed there own "book" Locost chassis, could you let me know what power Mig welder you think would be required for the job? I have been offered a 150amp unit but am thinking maybe I really need something 180amp+ for the steel thickness I'll be using.

Mine is a SIP migmate 180 and managed to weld some fairly thick stuff for my engine mounts no problem. But if I was going to do my own chassis I'd buy or rent a TIG kit as it is so much neater and enables better flow control IMHO.
