I have blown all my budget, and some... and cant afford to do any work to my engine's.  I have got funds to cover race entry fees and finish my car, buy safety kit etc...

Has anybody else ran using a standard engine?  I have got a twin webber I can use but other than that, these engines, straight from the donor will have to do for the season I think.  I have not got any visions of grandeur but would like to be racing against somebody.  Will there be any folk that I can race, or will I be so far off the back of the pack I'll be wasting my time?

I will be able to uprate my engine's over the 2007 winter break though.

Any advise greatly apreciated...

I wondered the same thing and from what I could gather, if you gave the engine a self-rebuild then you would probably be ok mixing it at the back of the pack (with a bit of driver talent ofcourse) Wink

Firstly a standard engine is technically illegal.....  Check the the regs... you have to use a cam from Kent cams which will have the Fuel pump lobe ground down and engraved with a serial number (Stops using 'Hot' cams...) and therefore you have to use an electronic fuel pump and regulator.

Also, you really need to run with a baffled (and possibly cut down) sump. If it is not baffled the oil will surge under cornering and may cause oil pick up problems, meaning you may blow the main bearings. Running a cut down sump allows you to lower the engine, remember there must be 50mm clearance under the sump - regs again....

Other things are most if not all are +90 on the bore - a few extra CC.

There is probably more but this is a start...
