Just trying to source a gearbox for my "under construction" Locost 750mc car. Are the 2 shown below ok as far as the regulations go?

Thanks!

they both appear to be type 2 boxes as fitted to the mk 2 escort.  Ask to clarify if they have the integral bell housing if they do then they are right.  You can also use a type 3, type 9 and type e according to the regs at present.  But i'd stick with type 2 as i hear that theu are changing the regs next year

Got the first one for 50p! Just gotta hope they let me pick it up now Wink They werent sure if it was type 2 but they took it off a MK2 Escort and the bellhousing is all part of the main gearbox (not a seperate piece) so I can fairly safely assume it's suitable

Nice trick! Not sure what I am going to do for an engine yet. Randell's are now going for £2k plus it seems, really just want a xflow that has been bored out and is in "reasonable" shape. For the first couple of seasons anyway.
